Ten-year badge presentation

Ahead of the recent home match against Braintree Town, a presentation took place for the winner of the competition to design a ten-year badge for Trust in Yellow.

To celebrate the Trust’s tenth anniversary in 2016 and a milestone year for the Trust, local school children were invited to design a special badge to be used during the year ahead.

The Trust was delighted to receive a total of 144 entries, which were narrowed down to a shortlist of 23 before supporters were asked to select the winner from four finalists.

The new badge is designed by Harriet James-Hodges, from Ainsdale St Johns Primary School, whose entry came out on top in a poll run during January.

Harriet was presented with a copy of her winning design and prizes at the recent home match against Braintree by Alan Spence, Southport’s all-time record goalscorer, and Trust chairman Martin Robinson.

Harriet’s design will be used as the Trust’s badge throughout the year and will be the focal point for the Trust’s ten-year celebrations.

The Trust would like to thank all the schools and children who took part. Not only did the number of entries received surpass expectations, but the quality of the designs was of the highest standard and choosing a shortlist and four finalists was a very difficult task.

It was clear from the entries that so many children had put a lot of time and thought into their designs, and the Trust was thrilled to see such enthusiasm for the competition.
