UPCOMING COACH TRAVEL

As the new season draws ever closer we would like to remind supporters of the travel details for our first two away matches:

Macclesfield - Tuesday 11th August

The Coach will depart the Arion at 4-40pm, stop at The Crown and The George before departing the Merseyrail Community Stadium at 5pm.

The fare is £10 for members and £12.50 for non-members

There are just a few places left which can be booked by texting Colin Aindow on 07861416859 or calling in at the Trust Office on Saturday at the Eastleigh match

If you have booked a place but not yet paid please do so on Saturday or contact us to make alternative arrangements.

If you wish to be picked up at the Arion, Crown or George but haven't let us know yet please do so as soon as possible.

If you have booked but can no longer go please let us know so we can offer your place to someone else.

Cheltenham - Saturday, 15th August.

The coach will depart the Merseyrail Community Stadium at 9-30am. If you wish to be picked up in Birkdale or at the Crown please let us know. The coach will not be going to the Arion.

The fare is £19 for members, £14 for accompanied junior members and £24 for non-members

The Trust have negotiated some reduced rates with Alfa coaches for the longer trips this season of which Cheltenham is the first. For this to be successful we need the backing of travelling supporters. You will need to book by Tuesday evening at the latest.

Any late changes to our coach trips will be put on our website, twitter and facebook page as soon as possible.

NOMINATIONS TO THE TRUST BOARD

The AGM of Trust In Yellow will be held on WEDNESDAY, 9th SEPTEMBER at 7-30pm in the Grandstand Bar.

The agenda will include elections to the Trust Board for seven places.

Three members of the board, Martin Robinson, Andy Kelly and Alan Jones are due to stand for re-election and have put their names forward. Howard Birch was recently co-opted onto the board and will put his name forward for election by members.

As well as these four places on the board we also have THREE more vacancies and would welcome members to put their name forward. If you are interested please contact the Trust Treasurer, Colin Aindow by Saturday, 8th August. You can phone him or leave him a voicemail on 07861 416859, or e-mail him at fans@trustinyellow.com. Alternatively you can come into the Trust office on match days to express your interest or simply to find out what is involved in the role of a board member.

We hope there will be interest from members in joining the board in this exciting point in the Trust's history. Ballot papers will be sent out to members in August and the elections completed at the AGM.

TRUST STATEMENT ON COACH TRAVEL

To try and improve our transport to away matches we asked members for their suggestions which we have considered when planning next season. Here is a general outline of our policy for the coming season.

Pricing.

We have contacted TEN coach companies for quotes for this season but only got THREE replies from Elite, Vision and Alfa. Their quotes do give us some opportunity for improving our prices as you can see in the offers for the first four coaches of the season. As requested we have simplified the pricing structure which as agreed still gives a reduction in price for members. Usually this remains at £5 except when we are making a special offer as in the case to Macclesfield. There will be a further reduction for accompanied junior members though less than last year.

Since we have suffered a loss in recent seasons when people have booked for the coach and then not turned up on the day we shall only guarantee a place if you pay in full (or at least a large proportion of the larger fares) in advance. Only paid for bookings will be considered when we are deciding whether a coach will run. This money will not be fully returnable unless people who can't travel contact us in advance with genuine reasons.

Cancellation of coaches.

In all cases we shall try and make a decision as to whether a coach will run at an early stage to allow supporters the opportunity to make alternative arrangements if we cannot run a coach. The decision will be made on the basis of the amount of money we have actually collected at that point to cover the cost of the coach. As requested we will improve our communications via our website and twitter and when booking on the coach please give us your contact details so we can get in touch if necessary.

Pick up points outside Southport

For supporters who live away from Southport we are willing to consider pick up points on the route to games. For instance for people living in the Manchester area, if the coach is going on the M62 we could pick up in the Bury area or going down the M6 at a services or near an exit

Incentives for regular travellers

Members suggested some incentives for regular travellers on the coaches. We will consider at our next meeting whether we can offer reductions for their next trip to people who have travelled on five trips earlier in the season.

Arrival and departure times from matches

Some members asked if we could arrive earlier or leave later at matches but they were in a minority. Because of congestion on the Motorways we do need to make early start from Southport for more distant matches. We will normally plan to arrive about 60-90 minutes before a match and because of the wishes of the coach companies (and majority of passengers ) will leave straight after matches. We are willing to experiment on one or two occasions with arriving earlier in one or two suitable towns but will consult with members first.

Weekend Trip

Similarly we will be asking members shortly where they would prefer the weekend trip to be this season. We hope members will appreciate the efforts we are making to run the coaches at affordable rates but for us to be successful we need to have the support of members to book for trips early and to honour bookings made.

If you have any comments about these suggestions or any other ideas you think we should consider then please contact Martin Robinson at dmjrobinson@btinternet.com
