CHARITY MATCH: SOUTHPORT COLLEGE V REDEAUGH BOYS CLUB

This season, Trust in Yellow’s sponsored Southport player has been striker and leading goalscorer Richard Brodie.

As well as being a regular in the Sandgrounders’ starting line-up, Richard has spent the season mentoring and coaching a Southport College team in the English College League.

To celebrate the end of their season Richard has invited his former childhood team, Redeaugh Boys Club, to take on his college team in a charity match at the Merseyrail Community Stadium on Saturday 2nd May.

Redeaugh Boys Club is one of the biggest boys’ football clubs in Gateshead and once the starting point for the likes of Paul Gascoigne and Don Hutchison.

Kick-off will be 3pm and entry to the ground is free with donations being collected during the game for Diabetes UK, a charity championed this season by Richard’s teammate and friend, Southport midfielder Luke George.

Everyone is welcome to come along to watch and show support for both the teams and Diabetes UK, with a small awards ceremony being held following the final whistle in the Grandstand Bar.
