WHO IS YOUR PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR DECEMBER?

The year 2014 came to a memorable end for Southport - and voting for the Trust in Yellow Player of the Month for December is now open.

Every month throughout the season, fans are asked to nominate their star performer from the Southport team and one supporter will be selected to make the presentation to the winning player.

As well as booking their place in the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in 16 years with victory over Eastleigh, Southport secured two excellent wins at Woking and Kidderminster Harriers.

Richard Brodie scored twice - one against Eastleigh and also in the draw against Gateshead - while Micah Evans, Andy Mitchell, Dom Collins and Charlie Joyce were also on target.

The most spectacular goal - and arguably most important - was scored by Luke George, who found the net in some style to secure the win at Kidderminster. Goalkeeper David Raya Martin and captain Luke Foster have also been in fine form.

Or has another player caught your eye in December? There are sure to be plenty of contenders this month.

The FA Cup third round match at Derby County, of course, took place in January, so any votes based on this match should be kept for the next round of voting.

Voting is open until 8pm on Friday 16 January and the presentation will be made ahead of the home match against Chester on Saturday 17 January.

You can submit your vote in any of the following ways:

- E-mail fans@trustinyellow.com

- Text POTM followed by the players name and your name to 07861416859

- Complete a voting slip at the Trust office (next to the club shop)

A polite reminder that all votes are vetted, so any multiple entries or ones submitted without a name or valid e-mail address will not be counted.

Since the award was introduced, the club's junior supporters have taken real delight in making the presentation to the winning player.

In a slight change to previous seasons, you can now nominate yourself, your child or any other friend or family member to present the award by contacting the Trust in the same ways you can vote above.

The Player of the Month award is one of several initiatives run by the Trust to promote greater supporter-involvement and strengthen the link between fans and players.

WEEKEND VISIT TO BRISTOL

Trust in Yellow will be arranging a weekend visit to Southport’s match at Bristol Rovers on 11 April.

Departing in the afternoon of Friday 10, the package includes travel, as well as two nights’ stay in Bristol city centre.

The trip follows on from the Trust’s highly successful previous weekend visits to Eastbourne and Lincoln.

The package is available to supporters for just £97. Options to include accommodation or coach travel only are also available through the Trust.

Trust treasurer Phil Carder has worked hard to ensure that fans can access the full package for less than £100.

With heritage dating back to medieval times, Bristol is an historic city, which has developed into a vibrant, popular place to visit with plenty of sights to see and places to go.

It will be the first time Southport have visited the city for a match since 1974.

As in previous years, the trip is also open to family members who may prefer to come along to spend more time in the city rather than go to the football.

The trip can be paid for in stages with final payments needed by 31 March and supporters are asked to register their interest as soon as possible.

To do so, phone Alan Scarisbrick on 07980911693 or visit the Trust office of a matchday.
