CHARITY MATCH: SOUTHPORT COLLEGE V REDEAUGH BOYS CLUB

This season, Trust in Yellow’s sponsored Southport player has been striker and leading goalscorer Richard Brodie.

As well as being a regular in the Sandgrounders’ starting line-up, Richard has spent the season mentoring and coaching a Southport College team in the English College League.

To celebrate the end of their season Richard has invited his former childhood team, Redeaugh Boys Club, to take on his college team in a charity match at the Merseyrail Community Stadium on Saturday 2nd May.

Redeaugh Boys Club is one of the biggest boys’ football clubs in Gateshead and once the starting point for the likes of Paul Gascoigne and Don Hutchison.

Kick-off will be 3pm and entry to the ground is free with donations being collected during the game for Diabetes UK, a charity championed this season by Richard’s teammate and friend, Southport midfielder Luke George.

Everyone is welcome to come along to watch and show support for both the teams and Diabetes UK, with a small awards ceremony being held following the final whistle in the Grandstand Bar.

END OF SEASON PRESENTATION

Following yesterday’s final home match of the season against Grimsby Town, Trust in Yellow hosted the annual end-of-season awards.

It was great to see the Grandstand Bar full and the Trust would like to thank all the fans who attended.

The presentation photos can be viewed in the slideshow with details of the awards below.

Luke Foster picked up the club’s Player of the Season award as voted for by supporters. Richard Brodie finished second in the voting and Luke George third.

The Phil Carder Goal of the Season was won by John Marsden for his fantastic strike in the 3-3 draw against Lincoln City.

Every season, the award for the best goal is run by the Trust and voted for by supporters. The award has been renamed from this season in memory of Phil, the Trust’s treasurer, who sadly passed away in January, and was presented by Phil’s partner, Doreen, and his sister, Janet.

Doreen and Janet also received the Trust’s Fan of the Season, which was won by Phil.

With 12 league goals, Richard Brodie picked up the club’s Top Goalscorer award, presented by Martin Robinson. He also received the Champion Newspapers Player of the Season from Ron Ellis.

The Players’ Player of the Season was won by Paul Smith. Luke George was also made an honorary member of the Trust for his support and involvement in the recent Shave It or Save It fundraiser and was presented with his membership certificate.

PRESENTATION EVENING - SATURDAY 18TH APRIL

Over recent seasons the various awards for such things as Player of the Season and Goal of the Season have been made on the pitch. However, with the club the Trust has decided it would be nice to make these presentations in the more relaxed setting of the Grandstand Bar after match.

We hope, therefore that as many supporters as possible will stay behind after the last match of the season against Grimsby. The presentations will start once all the players and management are changed and have finished their post match duties.

There will all the usual awards and we are very pleased that Phil Carder's family have agreed to come along and make the presentation for Goal of the Season of the new trophy in his name.
