AGM on Tuesday September 20

Trust statement regarding new club directors

Trust in Yellow would like to congratulate Liam Watson, Nigel Allen and David Barron on their appointment to the board of Southport Football Club.

All three gentlemen are well known to be staunch supporters of the club and their formal involvement in this capacity heralds a new era for the club.

In particular, we look forward once again to working with Liam Watson, who has supported the Trust in a number of different ways during his various spells as manager, and indeed most recently in helping to organise the tenth anniversary celebrations of the 2005 Conference North title-winning team.

We are also encouraged by comments made by the club chairman, Charlie Clapham, that 'we will engage with Trust in Yellow in order that we take everyone with us on this journey.'

We are scheduled to meet with the chairman and members of the board within the next month and, as not only a body that represents supporters, but also as a major shareholder in the club, we look forward to discussing the Trust's role in the new direction of the football club as it moves forward.

We look forward to further developing a positive working relationship with the club, whilst at the same time ensuring that the views of our members are appropriately and robustly represented through improved communication, and exploring whether Trust representation on the board could be placed on the agenda.

Given these new developments, it could be argued that there has never been a better time to be a member of Trust in Yellow, as we look to engage with the club on behalf of all supporters, and would encourage all supporters to join together under the auspices of the Trust, as together we are stronger.

We are in no doubt that both the Trust and the board of the football club have the same common goal in mind - to see Southport FC successful both on and off the pitch.

We will endeavour to keep all members appraised as to any developments in what is sure to be an interesting and hopefully positive period.
